Abstract:
For the first time in more than 20 years of high energy particle physics
experiments, a dramatically new energy regime is on the verge of being
explored. All physics at the LHC will involve the strong interaction,
quantum chromodynamics. Expectations for the production of jets,
electroweak gauge bosons, Higgs and heavy flavours at the LHC are
discussed together with the associated theoretical challenges and recent
progress.
