Abstract:
Galaxies are the largest well organized systems in the Universe, which
provide through surprising interactions between micro- and macro-physics
the suitable conditions for the formation of stars and planets.
Although many phenomena taking place in galaxies are increasingly better
understood, other aspects remain mysterious, such as dark matter. The
aim of this presentation is to expose for non-experts our updated
understanding about galaxies that has been achieved with the current
observational and computational technical advances.
