Abstract:
The talk aims at introducing Differential Power Analysis (DPA) from the
theoretical and experimental point of view. It is understood to be an attack on
the physical layer of hardware moduls, like smart cards, for example.
We present the physical and mathematical foundations. After the discussion
of the experimental setup we apply the method to a crypto algorithm and
interpret the experimental results. Finally, improvements towards DPA resistance
of hard- and software are presented.
