Abstract:
Recently it has been shown that neutrinos have mass and mix. We thus have
lepton flavour violation. Most models of neutrino mass include Majorana
neutrino masses and thus involve lepton number violation. We present a
general discussion of lepton number violation in supersymmetry. We first
introduce supersymmetry on an elementary level. We then discuss how lepton
number violation arises in supersymmetry. We show how a general theory of
lepton number violation can be embedded in a unified model. This has
direct consequences for neutrino masses and future observations of lepton
number violation.
