Abstract:
For a number of years we have been investigating paramagnetic atoms
embedded in helium crystals with the goal to use these samples to search
for a P-(parity) and T-(time reversal invariance) violating atomic electric
dipole moment (edm). I will report on the unique optical and
magneto-optical properties of these cryogenic samples and discuss their
possible use for an edm-search.
