Abstract:
Until recently experimental evidence of CP violation has been
in a state of stagnancy since the first observation 35 years ago.
Meanwhile the theoretical perception of CP violation has markedly changed.
In this talk I attempt to summarize the role of CP violation in the
Standard Model and to evaluate how well theorists are prepared to
interpret the wealth of forthcoming data from B factories in the
context of the standard theory and beyond.
