Abstract:
ITER will be the first fusion reactor which will produce significant fusion reactions (500- 700 MW) in long pulse (400 - 3000 s). It is based on extensive physic bases as well as important technological R+D. The talk will attempt to summarize those bases as well as the expected operation performance. Since ITER is not the only component of present roadmaps towards the realization of a first-of-a-kind power plan, the talk will also include the other elements of the roadmap, to show the role of ITER in the strategy.
