Abstract:
The CKM matrix parametrizes the weak charged-current interaction of quarks. The Standard Model requires this quark-mixing matrix to be unitary. In recent years high-precision beta-decay data from neutrons, pions, nuclei and strange particles indicated that something was wrong with the unitarity of this matrix. The field requires input from studies relying on vastly differing methods of experimentation, as well as from theory, and a picture of the current state of discussion on this subject will be drawn.
