Abstract:
The progress in measuring particle electric dipole moments will be reviewed
in context of current theories of CP violation within the Standard Model
and beyond. The usefulness of such dipole measurements will be compared
with those made on CP violating properties of neutral K- and B-meson decays
and for other particle reactions and decays. Experiments to measure the
electric dipole moments of atoms and molecules and the neutron and the muon
will be described and compared in terms of the fundamental limiting
factors. Measurements of the EDM of the neutron will then be described in
rather more detail.
