Abstract:
Large part of the Dark Matter is expected to be in form of relic particles;
therefore, the search for the Dark Universe can also be considered
as an useful mean of investigation for Physics beyond the
Standard Model. The DAMA experiment at the Gran Sasso National
Laboratory of I.N.F.N. is investigating this new frontier by developing and
using highly radiopure scintillators such as NaI(Tl) and liquid Xenon.
In particular, here the results achieved in the investigation of the WIMP
annual modulation signature by means of the about 100 kg NaI(Tl) set-up
will be discussed. The perspectives of the data taking which is in progress
and of the LIBRA set-up, under construction, will be summarized.
