Abstract:
Two months after arrival at comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko the ten instruments on board the European Space mission Rosetta are very busy studying the comet nucleus and its coma. Already the shape of the comet was quite a surprise, resembling more a rubber duck than a sphere. The two ROSINA mass spectrometers and the pressure sensors are exploring the volatile material in the coma which shows even at 3.5 AU from the Sun already a very rich chemistry. In the talk I will present some of the early highlights from ROSINA and discuss their first implications and conclusions.
