Abstract:
A short review of the LHC design, construction and commissioning
will be given together with its physics discovery potential. Some
experimental data from the first 9 days of operation will be shown
and the course of events of the incident in sector 3-4 will be
explained. Finally, the plans for restarting the accelerator in 2009
will be outlined. The material is accessible for non experts in the
field.
